The rowing races of students’ “eights” have had more than tenyear tradition in Wroclaw. At the beginning in 1997 only two teams of the two biggest universities in Wroclaw took part in it and it was very similar to the traditional competition between Oxford and Cambridge universities on the Tames River.

After 10 years the rowing races evolved and their formula changed: the representatives of the best universities from Poland and abroad started taking part in it. It was the beginning of the race called Odra Cup which became a part of students’ event called Juwenalia. Except students of Technical University in Wroclaw and Wroclaw University, also students from Oxford, Imperial College of London or University of Mikolaj Kopernik in Torun take part in the rowing races.
