After the acclaimed concert of Jan Garbarek Group, , one of the heroes of the evening, Trilok Gurtu, the brilliant Indian percussionist , is returning to Wroclaw.

This time he will play with Vibraslap jazz band.

The music of the Vibraslap band has always been connected with ethno-jazz genre and the evidence of it was the cooperation with the percussionist Tomas Sanchez. The music search of Miłosz Rutkowski and Tomasz Grabowy are connected with finding new sounds and original rhythmic combinations. The newest project involving Trilok Gurtu, was prepared especially for Ethno Jazz Festival and it’s the natural consequence of this search. On one hand Trilok Gurtu uses untypical, original sonically percussion instruments and on the other it introduces very interesting, characteristic for them rhythmic combinations.

The concert will be on 13th April in the White Stork Synagogue.

The percussionist Trilok Gurtu was born in 1951 in Bombay, India, in a musical family. He started playing the table under the direction of Ahmed Jan Thirakwa at the age of 6. Together with his brother he set up a percussion band in 1965. He started getting interested in jazz because of the John Coltrane album “Plays the Blues”. After the concerts in Europe in 1973 he stayed with India funky band  in Italy. In 1976 he went to New York where he cooperated with a saxophonist Charlie Mariano.
