The 9th edition of the International Tournament of Wheelchair Tennis – Wroclaw Cup will start on 5 July. This year cup, as in previous editions, will be run on the tennis court next to the Olympic Stadium in Wroclaw. The final of tournament of Wroclaw Cup 2011 will be on 9 July at 11 a.m. Admission is free!

The highest seeded player of this year edition will be Austrian Martin Legner (10th position on WTR). “He is a real veteran of tennis court. He is 50 years old, but will show the highest level of tennis and give a lot of emotions” – said Grzegorz Offman, the director of Wroclaw Cup 2011. In his opinion the matches of other player Taduesz Kruszelnicki (the best Polish player) will be also interesting.

Seventy three players from 18th countries (among others from Japan, Marocco, Chile, Israel and the USA) will take part in this year edition which stake money is 15 000 USD.

The queen of soul will have a concert on 7th of August at Słodowa Island on the WrocLove Fest festival.

Erykah Badu is an incredible musical phenomenon. She is a beautiful, talented, charismatic vocalist that has amazing voice. In soul music she has no competition at all. She has recorded 6 solo albums and got very prestigious awards. Her debut album “Baduizm” was recorded in 1997 and was sold in 3 million copies in few months after its recording.

She cooperated with very famous and well known artists, such as: Macy Gray, Chaka Khan Busta Rhymes, Outcast, The Roots, D’Angelo, Common, Guru, Mos Def, Jill Scott. Owing to her cooperation with The Roots, in 2000 she got her 3rd Grammy Award for the song “You Got Me” .

Her last albums are connected 2 parts of trilogy: ”New Amerykah Part One (4th World War)” from 2008 and ”New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh)” from 2010. Both were well received by fans and critics in the whole world. This year the last part of trilogy “New Amerykah” may be published.

For 10 days Wroclaw will host the most talented teenager basketball players from Europe. Sixteen national basketball teams of U18 will come to Wroclaw. In the opening match, on 21st of July, Poland will play against Slovakia. The Polish team will be in group A together with Greece and Croatia. In the tournament will play among others  Germany, Turkey, Lithuania, Spain or Italy.

Seventy matches will be played at Wroclaw’s Physical Education University and in Hala Orbita. The watchword of the event is “We believe”. The event will be promoted by Marcin Gortat, Maciej Zieliński , professor Tadeusz Luty and Wrocław’s team of American Football “The Crew”.

The lineup of Polish U18 team is based on players that won vice championship of the world at the tournament in Hamburg in 2010.
